In order to operate a mobile crane or forklift, the regulations fall in the same category as HGV and PCV depending on the weight of the vehicle. It is recommended that operators should be screened before employment and at regular intervals thereafter.

Many employers and recruitment agencies in the commercial sector will insist upon a medical assessment by a doctor being carried out, and a certificate issued, prior to entering any type of employment involving mechanical operation.

Please enquire with your employer if they have a specific form which needs to be completed. If so, please bring this with you at your appointment. Otherwise, the doctor will carry out the assessment according to the D4 template, and if you meet the required standard then we will issue a medical certificate.
